Book Launch Invite

Dear Friend,

I’d like to extend a special invitation to join me at the official book launch and signing event for my latest medical textbook tailored for medical students. The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd, starting at 6 pm, and will be held at the Wexham Park Hospital Lecture Theatre, SL3 6LZ.

During the event, we’ll have the privilege of hearing a keynote speech by the BMA, shedding light on the ongoing pay negotiations and the evolving landscape for junior doctors. Nibbles and beverages will be provided, offering a chance to mingle and enjoy refreshments. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to have your copy of the book personally signed.

Any prospective authors out there?

I’m delighted to share that representatives from World Scientific publishing will also be in attendance. This presents an exceptional opportunity for any aspiring authors to pitch their own book concepts directly to industry experts. Whether you’ve been nurturing a manuscript or just brainstorming ideas, they’ll be eager to listen and provide constructive feedback to nurture your literary aspirations. Who knows, they might even want to publish your idea.

Admission to this event is free. However, due to limited availability, I encourage you to secure your spot early by registering in advance to ensure you don’t miss out on this special gathering.

Drug of the week

Alemtuzumab

This is is a monoclonal anti-CD52 antibody used in the treatment of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.

It causes depletion of all white blood cells.

It is also used for the induction of immunosuppression for kidney transplantation.

Evidence suggests that alemtuzumab is associated with a lower risk of acute rejection within the first year of transplantation while exhibiting a comparable safety profile to non-lymphocyte depleting agents.
